Affordable Housing

Affordable housing is social rented, affordable rented and intermediate housing, provided to eligible households whose needs are not met by the market. It can be a new-build property or a private sector property that has been purchased for use as an affordable home.

Matheson Lang provides a range of services to Developers, Funds, Providers, Finance Houses and Local Authorities in the provision of Affordable Housing. We specialise in providing Affordable Housing consultancy services on both Shared Ownership and London Living Rent, offering advice on unit; size, mix, orientation, specification and pricing along with advice on sales, rental and marketing strategies to ensure success rates are met.

We are established across the market in facilitating joint venture partnerships between developers, registered providers, local authorities and funders with wider Land & Development team here at Matheson Lang.

Increasingly Registered Providers and Housing Associations are buying development sites direct, ahead of private house builders and developers but there are skills gaps in both the Local Authorities and the Registered Providers for much of the development consultancy process.

The team draws from its experience of working with Developers, Land Owners and Local Authorities in leading affordable housing viability negotiations including Sec 106 Agreements coupled with financial modelling techniques to ensure different tenure types, affordability levels and values can be achieved.

Matheson Lang have worked with many Registered Providers and Local Authorities including: Network Homes, Notting Hill Housing, Catalyst Housing, Metropolitan Housing, A2 Dominion, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and The Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames.
